Death Is The Only Ending For The Villain Webtoon Review

Ever since watching My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, I had been searching to find something to fill in that excitement until Season 2. That was when I found this webtoon, Death Is The Only Ending For The Villain or Villains Are Destined to Die .

Official Trailer

The story follows a girl who reincarnates into an otome game as the adopted daughter, Penelope Eckhart, who is also the villainess! She was taken in to replace the real missing daughter and heroine of the story, Yvonne. In her previous life, she experienced hardship being tortured by her two step brothers, so how will her life be this time?!

In some aspects, this reminded me of My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! since both of the mc became the villainess, and they are trying to avoid the death route ahead. Before the heroine shows up, Penelope is trying to curry favorability with one of the male leads and hopefully survive, but it’s not as easy as it seems.

So in this world, it works more similar to an actual otome game where there is a system of choices she can choose from, and a favorability meter above each male lead. Later on, she does turn off the limited choices, and have her own freedom. I’m actually glad cause it’s much more enjoyable to read about what she wants to say instead of limited options.

First of all, we have her two brothers, one being Derrick Eckhart, the cold and strict eldest brother.

Next, we have her second step brother, Reynold Eckhart. I call him the tsundere and hostile one who always try to pick a fight with Penelope. So basically neither of her step brothers liked Penelope in the game meaning both were bad choices to cling onto for survival. Out of them two, I would say Reynold was much harsher towards Penelope when they were young. However, he does show that he cares about Penelope like when she ate rotten food given by the maid, he was upset she didn’t retaliate and kept that personal maid.

Winter Berdandi is a hidden wizard who does trades, and also the head of Berdandi marquisate. He is the polite and gentle type, and he is the one that will help Yvonne regain her position in the original game. Later on, Penelope bought some information from him, and that’s when they first met. Despite Penelope thinking Vincent will probably only help Yvonne, his favorability raised towards Penelope’s behavior.

Callisto Regulus is the crown prince who’s violent and a bit crazy. In his route in the game, he killed the Penelope so that’s another dead end. During his introduction to Penelope in the banquet, he swung a sword at her and injured her, so I think he is the most dangerous out of all the choices. Penelope actually blurted out that she followed him cause she likes him. I can’t wait to see what she will say to him next time they meet. We haven’t seen much of him in the story ever since, but I hope to see more of his development later on.

Lastly, there is Eckles, a slave from a ruined country. He’s quiet yet loyal, and was probably the only one that pitied Penelope. Since he was the best bet, Penelope made sure to find him first, and made him her personal knight.

Overall, I think all the characters like her so far despite what they say. I don’t think any of them will kill her since her unexpected behaviors always raises their favorability! Looking forward to how the story will develop, and the path she will take. I recommend you to check it out if you enjoy a romance otome type of webtoon 🙂 Thank you for reading!
