Hidden Gems of Anime/Manga

There are so many GREAT unknown anime out there. Why are they not popular though… They’re so good… (This is extremely subjective bc they’re based on my taste in manga/anime lmao)

Barakamon

Barakamon is a comedy anime about a calligrapher who has fallen from fame due to a violent episode he had with a famous person. So he moves from the city to the rural area and meets a bunch of new people where he learns and grows.

I really love this series because of how balances the nuance and humor is. It really was fun reading this series.

Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee

Tegami Bachi is about a boy who delivers letters! His journey follows him as he grows and learns about the reality that he lives in, while he is searching for his mother who was kidnapped.

It has been a long time since I’ve read this manga but I really liked it when I was reading it! I really enjoyed watching Lag grow as a person and discover the secrets behind each letter he delivers.

Mondaiji

Why has nobody heard of Mondaiji before? Mondaiji is a very very good isekai anime packed with action! I really recommend this series for people who like watching action/fighting anime. Although Izayoi’s ability is pretty broken, it’s very amusing to watch his one-sided fights.

D-Fragment

Yeah, I think D-Frag is ecchi, but it doesn’t take away much from this comedy series! Again, I’ve only read the manga so I can’t speak for the anime. But the manga was super funny and cute.

This series is about a boy trying to leave the weird club that he joined? But while trying to leave, he finds himself actually liking the club?

World Trigger

World Trigger is truly an interesting show. It talks about a world being attacked by “neighbors” that come from a portal from another world. And there is an agency called “Border” that is in charged of protecting the city. But what happens when a humaniod neighbor enters the city?

I love love love World Trigger. I’m surprised not a lot of people know about this series. I pray for a 3rd season of the anime bc wow, I miss it a lot.

I stopped reading the manga because it went on hiatus and haven’t picked it back up since. But I’m glad it’s coming back because it means that more people can experience World Trigger for themselves!

Thoughts:

Ok it was VERY hard to come up with this list because it was hard to tell which anime is “lesser known”. Please note I read the manga for more than half of these (and didn’t watch the anime bc I’m a manga person,,, and bc I didn’t have a lot of time to watch anime haha). But they are all super good… You should definitely give them a shot!
