Given Ep 1 Review *Spolier*

This anime is really relaxing and mellow to watch. We have two MCs in this anime: Mafuyu Sato and Ritsuka Uenoyama. Mafuyu reminds me of Tanaka-kun from Tanaka-kun is Always Listless. They both talk very slow and with few words. Mafuyu also always seems to be sleeping or tired like Tanaka- kun.

“Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal… That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them starts to change.”

The show started out by introducing us to our two main characters heading off to school. After sometime, Uenoyama felt tired and wanted to sleep at his favorite spot near these stairs and that’s when our two MCs met.

Uenoyama saw him sleeping there and Mafuyu must have felt Uenoyama’s stare and got up. Uenoyama commented on Mafuyu’s guitar and how he can get the guitar string fixed. Mafuyu was so happy when he heard that it could be fixed, but Uenoyama answered “not right now”, which leads to Mafuyu making these disappointed puppy eyes. He felt bad and guilty looking at Mafuyu and ran to grab his tools to fix his guitar. After fixing it, Uenoyama tuned and played it. Mafuyu heard him playing the guitar and grabbed him by the collar and asked him to teach him how to play. Uenoyama was reluctant, but he did take Mafuyu to his band practice and when playing for Mafuyu he felt that excitement again.

After taking Mafuyu to his band practice he still hasn’t agreed to teach him how to play guitar yet, but it was more because he wasn’t sure was he good enough to teach him. The next couple of days he didn’t find Mafuyu near the stairs or saw him and “secretly” he knows he misses him (//∇//). When he saw Mafuyu again, it was at band practice. It turns out Mafuyu has been practicing how to replace guitar strings and learning how to tune it. We ended this episode on a sweet note when Uenoyama asked Mafuyu did he check out the Music Club, and Mafuyu did, but he wants Uenoyama to teach him because he’s “cooler” (˵¯͒⌄¯͒˵)

If you like anime shows like Fukumenkei Noise or Your Lie in April, I think this show is worth to give it a try. It is Shounen ai, but I don’t think you should let that stop you from checking it out. I was hoping to hear Mafuyu sing, but he didn’t sing in this episode so hopefully next one. I will probably prepare some tissues too because base on some of the flashbacks I can feel that there is going to be sad backstory on how Mafuyu got his guitar.

Looking forward to the next episode!
